Vancouver Fashion Week: An Overdue Recap

Vancouver Fashion Week: An Overdue Recap

Last month when I had the opportunity to attend Vancouver Fashion Week's September 24th show, it was one that I knew I had to take advantage of. I have to admit that not only was I interested in the fashion itself, but I was also interested in the style gurus who would be in attendance, and the opportunity to "dress up" for the night out.

In the end I chose to play it safe with a classic black dress and peacoat, however the crowds' attire was just as interesting to observe as that worn by the models. Everyone came dressed as themselves, with some choosing to go all out in cocktail dresses, and others looking like they had come from a Top Shop photoshoot. I definitely took mental notes on a few styles that I observed.

As for the fashion, perhaps one of my favourite presentations was by the first fashion line that I saw, Gatsbylady London. It was a great tribute to the past, and everything was on point from each models' catwalk to the music.

These ladies had attitudes that suited their outfits perfectly.

Next up was Shelley Klaassen for Blushing Boutique. The line seemed to be focusing on empowering women by encouraging them to be bold and confident!

Check out some of that combed back hair.

Near the end I saw Angus Chiang. These outfits were funky and fun!

Perhaps these are the clothes of the future?

Overall Vancouver Fashion Week was fun and interesting, and I would definitely go back. I certainly learned how hard it is to capture photos of models on the runway, and picked up some fashion inspiration!
